STAGES
As I was reading through the different stages of technology, I felt that they sounded about right. As for me, I have yet to get to the more difficult stages, but I hope that when I become a teacher, I can intergrate more technology into the classroom.
Where Am I?
I would definetely agree that I'm in the Adaption stage. I am not great at technology, but i do have basic skills. I work as an Instructional Assistant and I use technology in the class. We had an ELMO and I loved it. I could read to my stduent on it and do Word Word easily. The students thought it was cool. I had never personally used one before but I heard about them.
Do I Agree With Stages?
I do agree with the stages. Before I started working at a school, technology was noexistent to me. I had a phone and a computer that I used for typing and nothing more. I started having to do tons of things on the computer like attendance and lesson plans. Four years ago I didn't even have a Facebook account. A year ago I didnt' have a Twitter account. My friends were pretty annoyed with me. I know many people who are at the appropriation stage. I say this because they are the ones that help me with the "things that I should already know how to do." I know a person who is in the Innovation stage; my brother. He is a computer genius. He uses all types of technology that I just can't get with. He plays the Playstation games against people in China for goodness sakes.
What about my Colleagues?
My colleagues are all about technology. We have 2 Smartboards in our buliding and they just love them. They get on Donors Choose and get people to donate IPads and MP3 players and all these other things that they can use in the classroom. I am so lost with things that they do, but I do think that Smartboards and ELMO's are great for the classroom.
